Chinese Lawyers and the Legal Profession
The lecture will examine recent developments and trends of legal professions in China. Recent reforms attempt to rise the level of professionalism and transparency, in order to guarantee a more equitable justice, to serve the people and raise public consciousness.
Guest Speaker Xu Shenjian
Professor, China University of Political Science and Law, Dean of the Master of Laws. Vice President and Secretary-General of the Legal Writing Association of the Chinese Law Society, Deputy Director of Clinical Legal Educators’ Committee of Experts, Director of the Moot Court Committee of Experts, Chairman of the Beijing Development Zone Rule of Law Research Association, and arbitrators of several arbitration committees.
Research fields: ethics of legal professions, procedural law, practical legal education, judicial system and legal documents.
Editor-in-chief: “Legal Ethics Review”, “Practical Legal Education Review”. He has been visiting professor at Kyungpook National University, University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, University of Washington School of Law, University of Lisbon Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb Faculty of Law, and Pompeu Fabra University Faculty of Law.
